The Retreat

That is my little home painted on the wall -

You may find it shabby and old and faded.

The neighbours have shed their yellow leaves in fall,

Trying so hard to lay a beautiful carpet.

The friendly brook is taking a rest in here.

It had started long from those distant blue hills,

Go it must to that far away land nowhere -

Carrying a message where call of seagull fills.

Go inside my home and you will be surprised!

Its a small space tidied by a caring hand,

The place is alive with my mother's touch prized;

Peace and harmony dwell in our little land.

But you can't find it anywhere on this earth

Because its preserved and cherished in my heart.

World Environment Day

    

Let us be more compassionate towards the Earth on this World Environment Day.

Thirteen wishes

Let the world be without strife,
May peace in every heart dwell.
Let the earth be clean and green
Let us wish everyone well.

Oh my Lord illumine me,
Make me a being - very pure.
I may travel towards light,
Show me God that path for sure.

Sometimes I may be at wrong,
Guide me then towards the right;
Give me too - strength and courage
To arm for the righteous fight.

But these are wishes only
Which must get wind, like a kite.

Towards Nirvana

Mongolian scientists are examining a 200-year-old mummified Buddhist monk found in the lotus position who some believe is still alive as he is in a heightened meditative trance called 'tukdam'. That is very close to Nirvana, which according to Buddhist beliefs, is the highest possible state achievable when the physical body dissolves.

The mummy of the monk was found in Songino Khairkhan district of Ulan Bator, in the lotus position with his legs crossed and his arms folded, covered in cattle skin.

The 200-year-old mummy has been sent to  the National Centre of Forensic Expertise in Ulan Bator for further study.
 
Profesor Ganhugiyn Purevbata, the founder of the Mongolian Institute of Buddhist Art at Ulan Bator Buddhist University in Mongolia, has advanced the incredible theory the mummified monk is still alive - despite it looking very dead after two centuries spent wrapped in an animal hide.

"Lama is sitting in the lotus position vajra, the left hand is opened, and the right hand symbolises of the preaching Sutra," he said.

"This is a sign that the Lama is not dead, but is in a very deep meditation according to the ancient tradition of Buddhist lamas."

The mummified monk was discovered inside a cave by a 45-year-old man who planned to sell it off.

Initial speculation say that the mummy could be a teacher of famous Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov.
