Haiku

Haiku is a kind of Japanese poetry, confining itself into three lines and usually seventeen syllables. Previously called 'hokku', it was given its current name by the Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki at the end of 19th century.

Have you seen the flower

Eagerly blooming her petals
Talk to the sun?

One green meadow

Bathed in bright sunlight

Invited some fresh flowers.

Bright and cheerful flowers
Serve the guide
Hiding his canoe!

The eager face of the blue sky,

Takes a peek
The monsoon clouds!

Vestige of the caravan
In the scorching sun
Covered by sand dunes.
